Besides the "chillies on his willie!" part, I didn't really like the movie. (I'd seen it before but wanted to wait until after everyone got a chance to see it to bring this up).
This article sums up how I feel about it.
Just wondering what you guys thought about it.

I disagree entirely. It was a beautiful story, albeit farfetched. I don't like the title, but I don't think it disqualifies the film. As for the slums being glamorized…
The movie did not make me want to live through Hindu-Muslim riots, or be recruited by a gang to beg for money and have my loved ones raised to be prostitutes. It didn't even make me want to be on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"
Jurassic Park did however make me want to live with dinosaurs.
All movies glamorize. Pootie Tang, even, I'm sure.
Maybe the article isn't exactly the way I feel (the title is just a title), but it touches upon my biggest issue with the movie: it glamorizes the poverty in India. It perpetuated the 3rd-world stereotypes of India and Indians through the things Regan mentioned, and simultaneously romanticized their situation down by making it seem like some sort of adventure.
It seems like the only way out of the slums a spot on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire."
"Pootie Tang" does glamorize Pootie, a well-deserving hero who successfully brought Dirty Dee, Dick Lecter, and the rest of corporate America (and it's despicable products) to it's knees with nothing more than a belt and belief in himself. I think our class should've watched that instead.
